Nice hover effect from Fibery

Having been interested in creating better tools for research for a long time, I end up visiting Fibery every now and then. It’s a very interesting product. Close to my imagined ideal.

Today I found this lovely hover effect:

Blurring the background seems to lift the icon. Creating a sense of presence for my mouse pointer. It felt a lot similar to highlighting text, which I constantly see users to in web browsers, almost regardless of context.
