Don’t limit yourself to normal

I have a recurring insight. It seems I need to relearn this every few months: I don’t need to limit myself to what is normal.

Just because people around you ship slowly, doesn’t mean you have to.

Just because some people learn slowly, it doesn’t need to take you a full semester.

Just because people you love like spending time mindlessly consuming things, doesn’t mean you have do the same.

What you do shapes who you are. Every choice like this is a chance to make yourself more like what you want to be. As Derek Sivers puts it: there is no speed limit.

Don’t limit yourself to normal. Do what you want. At your pace.
